The best ChatGPT alternatives for a business, by why you are looking
People look for a ChatGPT alternative for different reasons, and each reason points somewhere else. Some want the same kind of help from a different vendor. Some want the assistant already built into Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Notion or Slack. And some have noticed that a chat window only helps while somebody is typing into it. This list is for a business, and it is sorted by which of those is yours.
The short answer
If ChatGPT does the right kind of job and you want it from somewhere else, pick the assistant that lives where your company already works: Gemini if you run on Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 Copilot if you run on Microsoft, Claude Tag if you standardize on Claude and live in Slack. If the reason is that the chat only helps while somebody drives it, that is a different purchase: agents you build, like Lindy, or an employee you hire and give a job, like Sanaf. For one person who wants a personal chatbot, the vendors’ own consumer apps are the place to start, and this list does not rank them.
Where we stand: We make one of the products on this list. Sanaf AI Solutions is ours and it is not at the top. If what you want is a better chat assistant for each person on your team, we say plainly that the entries above ours are the better buy, and plenty of businesses run one of them alongside us.
How this was put together: This is not a hands-on test. Nothing here was trialled, scored or benchmarked against ChatGPT. Each entry comes from our comparison page for that product, written from the vendor’s own live pages on the date shown against it, and each comparison links the pages it was read from so every claim can be checked. Only products with a comparison behind them are listed, so a chat app not yet covered is missing rather than judged. No competitor price is quoted; each comparison describes the pricing model and points at the vendor for the current figure.

The list
1. Gemini
Checked 2026-09-02The assistant in Gmail, or an employee with a job.
Choose it if
- Your company lives in Google Workspace and wants an assistant inside Gmail, Docs and Chat for every person.
- The work is drafting, summarizing and finding things, with a person sending the result.
- You want to try AI at no extra cost on the plan you already have.
- Per-person permissions and Google’s admin controls are the model you want.
2. Microsoft 365 Copilot
Checked 2026-09-02The assistant in your office suite, or an employee in Teams.
Choose it if
- Your company runs on Microsoft 365 and wants an assistant inside the meeting, the inbox and the documents.
- Per-person permissions and Microsoft’s governance are requirements, and IT owns the rollout.
- You have an IT team that wants to build and manage agents in Copilot Studio.
- You want one vendor for the office suite and the AI in it.
3. Claude Tag
Checked 2026-09-02@Claude in Slack, or an employee with a job.
Choose it if
- Your company already standardizes on Claude and pays for Team or Enterprise seats.
- Your team lives in Slack and mostly wants in-thread help: reading, drafting, answering from what the channel already knows.
- You have a technical team happy to connect its own tools and maintain them.
- You want Anthropic’s own product and support behind the teammate.
4. Grok Bot
Checked 2026-09-02Bots on your desktop, or an employee in your team chat.
Choose it if
- You are a solo operator with a personal queue and you want several Bots working in parallel.
- Your tools have no API and the only way in is driving the screen with your own login.
- You want to teach a routine by showing it once rather than describing it.
- You already pay for an eligible xAI or Cursor plan and want a native mobile app.
5. Sanaf AI Solutions
Checked 2026-09-04An AI employee that works without a prompt, in Slack or Microsoft Teams.
Choose it if
- The reason you are leaving ChatGPT is that nothing happens unless a person opens it and asks.
- You want jobs held every day, like the inbox, lead follow-up, booking and invoicing, with a record of what was done.
- It should work in the apps you already run with its own scoped sign-ins, and ask before anything it cannot undo.
- Paying for the work done suits you better than paying per seat.
6. Notion AI
Checked 2026-09-04Help inside your docs, or work across your apps.
Choose it if
- Your company genuinely runs in Notion and your operating documents live there.
- The work is writing, summarising and organising rather than acting in other systems.
- You already pay for Notion seats, so the AI is an upgrade rather than a new tool.
- You want the assistant to know your pages without you connecting anything.
7. Lindy
Checked 2026-09-02A hired employee, or agents you build yourself.
Choose it if
- You like building automations and want full control over every step and prompt.
- Your needs are mostly personal productivity: your inbox, your calendar, your meeting notes.
- You want an agent that handles voice calls as part of the flows you build.
- You have someone on the team who will own and maintain the agents over time.
Questions
- Is there a ChatGPT alternative that costs nothing extra?
- Some come with a plan you may already pay for: Gemini is included with most Google Workspace plans, according to the Google pages our comparison was written from. Sanaf starts free and charges for work done rather than per seat. Other vendors’ prices are not repeated here because they change, so check each vendor’s page for the current figure.
- Why is ChatGPT not on its own list of alternatives?
- Because it is the thing being replaced. Our comparison of Sanaf and ChatGPT sets out where ChatGPT is the better choice, and it links to this page, so the case for staying sits one click from the case for leaving.
- Should a business replace ChatGPT or add to it?
- Often add. A chat assistant for each person and an employee that holds a job answer different problems, and many businesses run both. Replace it when the tool you move to lives where your team already works and does the same job there.
- What can an alternative do that a chat window cannot?
- Keep working when nobody is asking. The chat assistants keep adding agent modes, so read each comparison for where the line falls today. The question to ask of any of them is whether the work carries on when nobody on your team is at the keyboard.
