R-MH Manufactured Home Residential Zoning in Moore, OK

R-MH Manufactured Home Residential District provides for HUD-code manufactured homes on individual lots or within manufactured home parks. Moore has several established manufactured home parks and a smaller number of individual R-MH lots scattered through the city.

All units must be HUD-code (manufactured after June 15, 1976) — pre-1976 mobile homes are not permitted. Minimum unit width is 16 feet, with single-section units allowed. Permanent foundation is required: piers + tie-down anchors per HUD standards. Skirting must be continuous, weather-resistant, and installed around the perimeter.

Wind zone is a critical Moore-specific consideration: HUD Wind Zone II (manufactured for 100+ mph winds) is the minimum, but Moore strongly recommends Wind Zone III units. Storm shelter access must be available within 300 feet of every unit — this can be a community shelter at the park or a registered private shelter in proximity.

  • HUD-code manufactured homes
  • Manufactured home parks
  • Accessory structures (skirting, decks, sheds)
  • Permanent foundations and tie-downs

Mobile homes have no meaningful tornado resistance regardless of tie-down quality. Moore strongly encourages mobile home park residents to identify their nearest community shelter. Newer manufactured home parks built since the early 2000s often have on-site community shelters; older parks generally do not.
