Permits in Edmond, OK — Contractor Guide to Edmond Development Services

Edmond is a separate city north of Oklahoma City with its own building department, its own adopted codes, and its own fee schedule. Contractors commonly work across the OKC/Edmond line, but the permit processes are not interchangeable — an OKC building permit means nothing inside Edmond city limits.

Edmond Development Services handles building, trade, and zoning permits for the city. Edmond has historically adopted slightly different code amendments than OKC and enforces certain items (especially stormwater and landscape requirements on commercial projects) more strictly. Plan reviews tend to be a few days faster than OKC for residential but comparable for commercial.
