This article shows how to add Sanaf to your Slack workspace and how your team works with it there.
Before you start
- You need to be an owner or manager of your Sanaf workspace.
- In Slack, you need permission to add apps to the workspace.
- If you chose Sign up with Slack when you signed up, Sanaf is already in Slack and you can skip to "Talk to Sanaf in Slack".
Add Sanaf to Slack
- In the console, open Sanaf's page.
- Find the Slack card, titled Put it in Slack, and press Add Sanaf to Slack. The button shows your employee's name.
- Slack opens its own screen. Check the workspace and press Allow.
- You come back to the console, which says Added to Slack.
Sanaf joins your workspace as one app with its own name. It sends a direct message to the person who added it, saying what it can do and how to work with it.
If you press Cancel on Slack's screen, nothing changes and the console says No changes made. If the install link had expired, start again from the same button.
Talk to Sanaf in Slack
- Direct message: open Sanaf's app in Slack and write to it.
- In a channel: invite Sanaf to the channel, then mention @Sanaf with what you need. In a small channel it posts one line introducing itself when it joins. It stays quiet in large or company wide channels, such as #general, until someone mentions it.
- Threads: once Sanaf is in a thread, it stays in it, so you can reply without mentioning it again.
Sanaf posts when you ask it something, and for anything you set up, such as a routine on a schedule. It never uses @channel or @here.
Once Sanaf is in Slack, its Slack card in the console shows In your Slack, with a button to open it in Slack and a Reinstall link.
Approving from Slack
When Sanaf needs a yes before it acts, it posts a card in the thread. Only a manager can decide it, and Slack has to know which console account you are.
The person who added Sanaf to Slack is linked automatically. Anyone else links their account once:
- In Slack, open your profile and choose Copy member ID.
- In the console, open Integrations, then the Channels tab.
- Under Your Slack account, paste the ID and press Link.
If someone who is not linked presses a button on a card, Sanaf tells them to ask a manager or link their account.
If you work in Teams
A workspace whose first install was Microsoft Teams is not offered Slack. The Slack card says Working in Microsoft Teams instead.
